Band History
The band was formed in the 1950's in the East End of Glasgow around
the time when orangeism and loyalism was at its strongest. The bands
first uniform consisted of a white shirt, black trousers, tunic, and
white skip hat. Through the years the band have had many changes in
the uniform, the present uniform consists of navy blue Tam' O'
Shanter hats, navy blue monkey style jackets, and navy blue
trousers.
Over the years the band has paraded in Scotland, England, and across
the water in Ulster with the Orange Order, A.B.O.D, and the Blacks.
We paraded regularly with 50 district (Dalmarnock) for a number of
years before moving to 37 district (Bridgeton) who we continue to
parade with to-day.
The band has also paraded with the Bridgeton branch of the A.B.O.D
for many years and hope to continue to do so for many years to come.
The year 2002 was a special year for the band as we had the
privilege to parade on the Shankill Road Belfast, and also had the
very great honour of laying a wreath in the memory of William 'Big
Bill' Campbell who was an ex band member and a true and loyal friend
to the band. The band are also very proud to carry a bannerette in
memory of Big Bill who will always be remembered by the members of
the band.
Membership of the band over the years like any other band has gone
up and down, our present day numbers are 24 flutes and 10 side
drummers, the band try to parade whenever possible. The bands
distinctive style of blood and thunder is instantly recognisable
when on the road and are widely known as the 'NOEY' and they also
play a lively range of Orange & loyalist selections.
The band would like to thank everybody who has helped and supported
us throughout the good and the bad years, and also a special thanks
to the members past & present who have worked hard over the years to
make the band what it is to-day, without them the band wouldn't be
as strong.
